Program Coordinator (internship) - Simmons Center for Cancer Research

Description:
Individual needed to assist or assume the lead role in managing and coordinating activities of the Simmons Center for Cancer Research located on BYU campus, including project manager for the Rex Lee Run.  Time commitment varies, but peaks to a significant level approximately 6 weeks prior to and through the race date.  Responsibilities also include: administrative assistant for summer Cancer Research Fellowship program and assistant advisor for the Cancer Awareness Group (BYU student club)
Responsibilities include:
FOR REX LEE RUN
  • Clearing race date and venue with university and city officials
  • Working with the Lee family
  • Leading and organizing volunteers
  • Update Rex Lee Run event website and Facebook page
·         Manage financial accounts/purchasing
  • Data entry, advertising, event registration
  • Honor a Cancer-fighter recognition program management
  • In-kind donations/food
  • Soliciting sponsors
FOR SIMMONS CENTER

  • Manage Simmons Center office and Summer Fellowship program
  • Maintain filing system, answer phones, and manage records
  • Annual reports, monthly budget reports
  • Assist director of Simmons Center as requested
  • Update website
  • Work with LDS Philanthropies representatives and assist with development activities and events
Qualifications:
  • Professionalism
  • interact and communicate well with the public, city officials, and across departments within the university
  • Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, problem-solver. multi-tasker
  • Time management skills
  • Expertise in WORD Suite
  • Ability to delegate, quick learner, team-leader
  • Available for year-round employment
Expertise preferred:
  • Non-profit knowledge
  • Event Planning/ previous race experience
  • Logistical Management
  • Managing volunteers, Leadership
  • Collaboration and negotiation
  • Bookkeeping/finances
  • Adobe Suite
  • Web-site management
