The Survivor Benefits (SB) Team in the Disability and Survivor Benefits Division has an opening for a highly motivated individual with exceptional analytical, interpersonal and logic skills.

We are searching for a Pension Program Analyst (PPA) with experience to perform a range of analytical duties. The PPA will serve as a lead and a resource for the SB production team. The PPA will perform duties that ensure the accurate and timely processing of benefit payments, research and provide resolution to complex payables, receivables and legal benefit issues, and ensure timely responses to time sensitive and high profile inquiries from internal and external customers.

Qualifications:
 Amazing customer service skills are a necessity due to being on the phone multiple times and/or extended periods of time. Must have the ability to break down complicated issues into simple terms for members and/or beneficiaries that are going through a challenging time in their lives.
    Demonstrated experience or ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
    Ability to interpret and apply CalSTRS laws, rules, and policies correctly and be willing to testify at Administrative Hearings as expert witness.
    Must have excellent mathematical knowledge and skills.
    Proven ability to meet deadlines that are non-negotiable.
    Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems, draw logical conclusions, make clear and concise recommendations, and complete staff work.
    Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing and/or verbally with other CalSTRS employees, our members and their beneficiaries.
    Proficent in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
    Excellent attendance is required because the work can change daily.
