Organization: The Governor’s Office of Economic Development

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Job Type: Internship: The internship is paid and is expected to last one year. GOED also offers an annual pass for the Frontrunner or a parking pass at the nearby Eagle Gate Parking Garage. Fellows are to work no more than 25 hours per week. 

  • You are expected to go to Salt Lake three times a week for about 7-8 hours each day for an entire year.

Description: 
Salesperson- The fellow should have a sales mindset. Utah is the product, and businesses are the customer. From building pitch-books to understanding deals, the fellow must take responsibility for the success/failure of GOED as a whole.


Research Assistant- The fellow assists the director and managing director in their efforts with EDCUtah to attract businesses to the state. This means due diligence, recommendations, and company relations outreach must be of the utmost quality. Data entry/integration into Salesforce is also a regular part of the fellow’s routine.

Economic Analyst- National and regional trends and statistics are valuable to the entire department. The fellow must collect, interpret, and present data in a meaningful, concise manner.
Office Assistant-Is able and willing to enthusiastically and efficiently cover the front desk. Must have a driver’s license in order to service state vehicles, chauffeur when needed, and perform other clerical duties.

Team Contributor- Is able to lead/follow in a group setting. Work is performed individually, yet as a fellow there are several responsibilities that entail group work. From the capstone project, to regular meetings, to professional development, teamwork is key to this position.

Job/Career Seeker- GOED leadership expects fellows to actively pursue networking/educational experiences. Fellows must be ready to take advantage of various professional development opportunities, and consistently engage with industry representatives. GOED considers this position a stepping-stone and managers are more than willing to help with contacts and career plans.
