USTAR - analyst

This is a working level position reporting to the Technology Outreach Director of USTAR, East.  This person provides analysis and coordination between industry and Utah’s research universities and associated research centers. The USTAR Analysts acts as a catalyst for developing industry engagement in creating commercial activity related to USTAR technologies. Frequent in-state and occasional out-of-state travel is required. This position is a cooperative partnership between USTAR and Utah’s tier 1 research universities.


 Example of Duties:

    Act as a liaison and broker between industry, academia, and government.
    Assist research centers to determine research and technology resources available.
    Develop and deliver opportunities for industry to connect with research institutions.
     Ability to access industry locations such as laboratories, energy production facilities, power plants, etc.
    Under the direction of the Executive Director, assist in sponsored projects and initiatives as they relate to commercialization, economic development, higher education development, workforce training and development, and community relations.
    Represent the Utah Energy Research Triangle to disseminate information and educate universities, industry, and other stake holders on the program.
    Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:
(includes knowledge, skills, and abilities required upon entry into position and trainable after entry into position)

    Interest in Utah energy industries.
    Knowledge of economic development best practices.
    Knowledge of government energy policy practices.
    Ability to deliver professional public communications regarding energy programs.  
    Ability to collaborate with industry in establishing R&D opportunities.
    Ability to implement and maintain professional relationships.
    Ability to evaluate research programs and identify areas needing improvement.
    Advanced computer skills, including a thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.
    General knowledge of industry safety procedures.

Salary: $19.23 - $26.44 Hourly
