POSITION OVERVIEW
The Partnership’s Center for Government Leadership (CGL) prepares federal leaders to solve national
challenges by driving innovation, inspiring employees and delivering results. In pursuit of that mission, the
CGL team works with federal leaders at all levels – from emerging leaders to experienced executives – to
build their leadership and management capacity, encourage innovation and improve the overall effectiveness
of their agencies.
As a program manager with the Center for Government Leadership team, you will support and manage
leadership development programs tailored to specific agency needs. This position is ideal for someone who
has a background in change management/organizational development, strong oral and written
communication skills, demonstrated experience in relationship management, and is able to manage
competing priorities.
Specifically, the program manager will:
Support the design, planning, and execution of customized leadership development programming
Build and maintain relationships with participants, government officials, and other experts to ensure
the successful design and implementation of projects through exceptional customer service
Lead and facilitate meetings, trainings and problem-solving sessions for federal employees
Create, manage and provide oversight for individual program budgets
Develop project plans and other planning tools to help coordinate the team’s activities and ensure
seamless logistics
Mentor and coach junior staff and interns
Assist the Center for Government Leadership – and the Partnership more generally – on all aspects of
programs/projects
Qualifications:
Five to seven years of demonstrated success managing leadership development or training programs;
consulting experience or prior work in the public sector strongly preferred
Training, facilitation and coaching experience strongly preferred
Prior experience in project management, including managing complex budgets
Knowledge of leadership development, human capital management, organizational change, and
internal communications; familiarity with management issues in the federal government
Contract management knowledge and experience preferred
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with senior executives, political
appointees and other government leaders, establishing credibility and earning their confidence
Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills
Familiarity using the Microsoft Office suite of software, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Collaborative team-player able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment and to organize
multiple and varied assignments
A positive attitude to tackling government’s management challenges
Commitment to public service issues and the mission of the Partnership
