POSITION OVERVIEW
The Partnership is seeking an entry-level researcher with a strong commitment to public service to help carry
out a broad spectrum of research projects designed to improve the effectiveness of government and
government management. The Research Associate will play a key role in producing and promoting a variety
of research products, from issue briefs, literature reviews, and reports, to launch events, roundtables and
symposia.
In the more than 10 years since the Partnership was founded, our innovative series of high-visibility research
reports, original surveys, and special projects has helped establish the Partnership as a premier source for
information, analysis and thought leadership on the challenges facing the federal civil service. Since the first
Best Places to Work rankings were released in 2003, they have helped create much-needed institutional
incentives to focus on key workforce issues, and have provided managers and leaders with a way to measure
and improve employee satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Independently analyze quantitative and qualitative data, interpret statistics and draft findings.
 Write summaries, case studies, literature reviews, issue briefs and other content.
 Exercise judgement to ensure the Partnership uses valid and reliable data.
 Conduct qualitative interviews or facilitate focus groups, as appropriate.
 Develop project plans, schedule interviews, record findings and help keep projects on track and on
schedule.
 Help maintain the Partnership’s Constituent Relationship Management tools, and become an expert
user in tracking contacts, research engagements, and invitations and RSVPs to events.
 Prepare and deliver PowerPoint presentations that summarize research reports.
 Respond to requests for data and information from other parts of the organization and external
sources.
 Function as a key member of the research team, contributing to, or leading, projects as appropriate.
 Collaborate with diverse project teams that include Partnership staff and corporate partners

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:  Have strong research skills and experience with both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Familiarity with SPSS, Excel, FileMaker Pro and PowerPoint a plus.  Have superb oral, writing and presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to organize, display and convey research results clearly and persuasively.  Convey strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to represent the Partnership with external stakeholders, including federal employees and leaders, corporate sponsors and partners.  Will have demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Have strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality deliverables by deadlines.  Be committed to the value and values of public service and the mission of the Partnership for Public Service.  Have a Bachelor’s Degree in public policy, public administration, economics, planning, social science, political science, or a related field; plus one to two years of professional experience/internships. Master’s Degree in public policy, public administration, political science, human resources, economics, planning, or a related field is strongly preferred.
