GOVERNMENTAL LIAISON - NDOT - SOUTHERN NEVADA DIRECTOR'S OFFICE

Description: This position provides strategic support to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Director's Office in Southern Nevada and acts as a government affairs liaison administrator with other agencies and the public. Under the direction of the Southern Nevada Deputy Director, the incumbent serves as an organizational expert on government issues; counsels management and staff and coordinates efforts with both NDOT and contracted consultant staff; supports NDOT's public policy efforts by monitoring various government meetings and legislation, coordinating NDOT's community and government relations and initiatives, monitoring emerging local and state government activity affecting NDOT, anticipating impacts to NDOT, researching and analyzing state and federal legislation and public policy issues, and recommending strategies to effectively address issues; develops strategic plans; communicates and coordinates with federal, state, and local government agencies, and quasi-government agencies on policies and initiatives; develops and maintains key reports and documents; closely coordinates with NDOT's Director, Communications Director, Deputy Directors, and Assistant Directors; coordinates pertinent political and social issues; provides operational information and statistical data for management use; analyzes and evaluates data, reports, and other relevant documents; provides recommendations on community and government relations initiatives; monitors emerging local and state government activities affecting NDOT; and researches and analyzes federal, state, and local government public policy issues. To Qualify: 

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, political science, social science, economics or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional experience which included working with elected and government officials on policy development; interpreting, explaining and applying laws, regulations and complex policies; planning and conducting outreach and/or public affairs events; and researching, analyzing and summarizing information to determine best strategies to effectively represent the agency; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
