Experience and Training Guidelines: Good knowledge of reading, spelling and basic arithmetic; experience in general office work; must have good customer service skills; Must be able to type 40 WPM net. High School Diploma or equivalent required; must be enrolled in a college/university HR degree program. Experience in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
Must be able to sit at a desk and use computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Knowledge of: Knowledge of basic clerical principles and procedures; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment; basic principles and procedures of record keeping; basic arithmetic and customer service principals. Maintain a variety of records and files; type at a speed necessary for successful job performance; perform a variety of clerical activities; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow directions; prioritize tasks; work independently with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of records.

Essential Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Human Resource Manager and/or Assistant HR Manager performs work of moderate difficulty in completing assigned tasks.
• Promotes and follows the City's values and expectations
• Answer incoming calls and direct inquiries to appropriate individuals
• Audit and analyze I-9 records for completeness and accuracy
• Audit, analyze, and update city job descriptions; work with supervisors and employees to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as consistency through the city descriptions
• Special projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Criminal History and/or Financial History Background Check: Successful applicant must pass background check.

Motor Vehicle Report: Will be obtained by Human Resources Division if applicable

Veteran's Preference Points: Applicants MUST submit a copy of his/her DD-214 with application in order to receive veteran's points. This is for initial appointments only.

Salary: $10.00 per hour. Up to 40 hours per week.
