Millennium Challenge Corporation’s 2014 Overseas Summer Internship Position
Descriptions for dissemination to your students. MCC countries
participating next year are: Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Indonesia, and Malawi.
Malawi is participating in the program for the first time. Please note
that there are two distinct intern positions being offered in Indonesia; if our
candidate pool is as good as it has been in recent years, several countries
hope to select more than one intern from a single PD.
MCC’s 2014 program will operate
procedurally as in years past. Important dates to note are the application
deadline of Friday, October 18, 2013 and that students will be notified of
acceptance starting on Friday, October 31; at that time students will have
until December 13 to confirm their acceptance in our program. It is our
hope that by extending the deadline for the student to confirm acceptance that
the student will have enough time to secure funding and make other necessary
arrangements.
When applying for internships we
ask that the student provide a resume and a cover letter; we have found that
students who compose cover letters stipulating their experience, area of study,
and general interest information about the country for which they are applying
always fare better than those who do not. Students are welcome to apply
for as many intern opportunities as they wish; when applying for multiple
positions we request that students provide separate cover letters for each
opportunity but only one resume. Please instruct your students to label their
resume files and cover letters in a manner which identifies them without having
to open the file (i.e.: Smith resume).
