Program Assistant Internship - Utah County

UTAH COUNTY PROGRAM ASSISTANT INTERN DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW:
The Utah County Program Assistant volunteer is an unpaid part-time position.  The incumbent will report directly to the South Region Coordinator and work as a member of the program team on matters pertaining to recruitment, training and management of volunteers, and other program needs. Incumbent’s major tasks include, but are not limited to, recruiting, orientation and training volunteers to become mentors, assisting with school-based programs and planning and implementing match activities.

HOURS:
The Program Assistant will normally work an average of 20 hours/week. Position requires some afternoons/evenings to accommodate recruiting activities/events. Hours are flexible as coordinated with the South Region Coordinator and other staff, interns and volunteers.

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT:
·         Conduct outreach at community events, businesses and local high schools to recruit a diverse pool of volunteers for school-based programs
·         Schedule and conduct recruiting presentations at businesses and high schools
·         Respond to Utah County volunteer inquiries for the agency
·         Maintain public listings regarding volunteer opportunities


VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION:
·         Conduct volunteer orientations
·         Answer volunteer’s questions to ensure well informed acceptance of volunteer responsibilities

VOLUNTEER RETENTION:
·         Provide follow up and support for volunteers
·         Maintain volunteer records, database and statistics in AIM
·         Provide ongoing training for volunteers in the school-based programs
·         Monitor and assess volunteer satisfaction and implement program improvements where needed
·         Develop and implement formal and informal volunteer appreciation and recognition programs

PROGRAM ASSISTANCE:
·         Plan and implement match activities to help strengthen mentors' relationships with their
Littles.
·         Attend school-based programs and assist school coordinators with organizational tasks such as putting together files and tracking attendance.
·         Coordinate clothing drives for the Attended Donation Centers

·         Experience with marketing and social media
·         Experience with the nonprofit sector
·         Exceptional customer service orientation and satisfaction in providing assistance
·         Strong interpersonal skills
·         Strong organizational skills
·         Excellent computer skills
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills
·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
·         Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
