Utah Climate Action Network Program Manager

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Budget: Build brand awareness and ability of the Network to enhance local climate change activities. Manage financial and other resources associated with the Network. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage the Network as a Fiscally Sponsored Project with a registered 501(c)(3)
  • Manage the process of incorporating the Network as a non-profit and securing 501(c)(3) status
  • Draft a fundraising plan and partner with Network participants on implementation
  • Complete grant applications and associated reporting, where applicable
  • Secure strategic partnerships for technical assistance and other forms of support
  • Track and report on all financial matters, in conjunction with Fiscal Sponsorship

Communications & Outreach: Complete ongoing tasks related to communications and outreach, including but not limited to:
  • Update content on UtahClimateActionNetwork.com and other program websites
  • Post through existing social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram)
  • Draft and send a recurring newsletter to Network participants
  • Act as a liaison and Network representative to the media
  • Manage general inquiries from the public and stakeholders
  • Implement regional climate action campaign and related deliverables

Member Connectivity & Recruitment: Ensure that the Network serves its primary purpose of connecting members with climate change information, solutions and local contacts to assist with project and policy implementation. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Organize and facilitate Network events that include all participants
  • Assist in creation and ongoing management of topic-based climate sub-groups
  • Ongoing 1:1 engagement with participants through email updates and meetings
  • Recruit new participants across all sectors and ensure diversity of participants

Strategic Leadership: In coordination with Network Conveners and participants, implement strategic vision detailed in Network Charter and ensure ongoing updates to align vision with emerging priorities and opportunities. Example tasks include:
  • Conduct recurring meetings with Network Conveners and project partners
  • Gauge and report strategic and partnership priorities of Network participants
  • Guide overall growth and success of Network as it matures

Requirements:
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, innovative team player with passion for improving communities and the environment
  • Strong knowledge of PC-based software applications
  • Strong writing, verbal communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated project management and/or business development success

Assist Planning Director in the day to day operations of the planning department. 
Responsibilities could include;
  • Prepares and composes minutes, letters, reports, memos, agendas, application forms, documents, form letters, hearing notices, findings of fact, and other documents as assigned.
  • Attends meetings, many of which are in the evening, for the above mentioned public bodies to take minutes, operate audio visual equipment, and provide administrative and technical assistance.
  • Responsible for preparing and mailing all legal notices, as required, and prepares certification of mailings.
  • Assists members of the community through Town land use and development permitting requirements.
  • Supports the Director in various capacities including, but not limited to: Enforcement, inspections, researching, evaluating, verifying, and presenting background information and data on all projects as requested.
  • Assists in drafting ordinance changes and plan amendments.
  • Processes other planning applications as directed by the Planning Director.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Certification as a Plan/Permit Technician is strongly preferred.

Description: This position provides strategic support to the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) Director's Office in Southern Nevada and acts as a government affairs liaison administrator with other agencies and the public. DescriptionThe successful candidate for this position will advise the Legislature on the state budget and fiscal impacts of proposed legislation. The candidate will be assigned to a subcommittee or subcommittees of the Joint Appropriations Committee. The candidate should be or become knowledgeable in the areas under the jurisdiction of the subcommittee and be responsible to the subcommittee's members and its chairs. The person in this position will also furnish the subcommittee and/or Fiscal Analyst with all pertinent records, analyses, and other information that the Office has gathered and assist in obtaining additional information if asked by the subcommittee or Fiscal Analyst. Networking Interns


Internships Available: Two – 1 in Weber County and 1 in Utah County

Description:
UNA is working to increase exposure and membership in Utah and Weber Counties and is in search of an intern who can play an integral role in making that happen. Key functions of this internship include:

  •       Act as the local champion for UNA, distributing printed material and information about UNA, referring nonprofits to the resources UNA provides and promoting the value of membership in UNA.
  •        Take the pulse of local nonprofits to provide UNA with information on how UNA can best serve the nonprofits in the region, and what training and resources will be best received in the area.
  •        Promote UNA’s networking and training events in Weber and Utah County (respectively). Help build UNA’s mailing list with nonprofit professionals.
  •        Because this position operates remotely from the Salt Lake office, communicating with other UNA personnel via telephone, and email on a regular basis will be of particular importance to keep all staff aware of regional activities, relate member and nonmember feedback and to remain abreast of statewide activities and initiative. 
  •        Organize 2 social events in the area
  •        Attend periodic virtual meetings with UNA staff and other networking interns around the state.

Data Unit Research Associate

Job Description: Data Unit Research Associate will use SQL programming to extract data from a state information system and use Microsoft report builder to design interactive reports.  Other tasks include analyzing the data, formatting it into reports using excel, Power BI, and various software programs. Strong candidates will have statistical experience, and familiarity with applying research questions to data, particularly regarding demographic and outcome information. You will be asked to review information systems to ensure compliance with procedures, policies, regulations; and facilitate/chair work groups, etc.

 
This position requires a strong working knowledge of creating and querying databases as well as an ability to design and communicate complicated analyses. This position requires strong organizational skills/ability to manage complex data projects, and strong interpersonal and communication skills to function as a liaison among program management and staff, IT personnel, and consultants.
Example of Duties: 

  • Uses SQL to create datasets and Microsoft Report builder to create report displays 
  • Designs reports and data displays that communicate complex information in a simple, easy to interpret manner (ie dashboards)
  • Supports program administrators by providing analysis, answering data questions, and monitoring data quality
