Intern #1 - a
student with coursework in city planning and public administration
Focus for internship -
the intern will help the Utah Housing and Community Development Division staff
to update the database of local affordable housing plans and the RDA housing
set-aside database, provide technical assistance to local planners to meet
reporting requirements and update their plans, and work with local officials
interested in affordable housing development.
Intern #2 - a student
with coursework in local government public finance, accounting, or nonprofit
financial operations
Focus for internship -
the intern will help the Utah Housing and Community Development Division staff
in conducting a review of financial systems for HCDD funding recipients, their policies,
and procedures to assure compliance with state and federal contract
requirements. Support HCDD’s auditing and
compliance monitoring efforts.
Intern #3 - a student
with coursework in city planning and public administration
Focus of internship -
the intern will work with Utah Housing and Community Development Division staff
to assist rural associations of government and local officials in planning for
growth, assessing impacts from economic development, prioritizing local needs,
establishing funding priorities, and coordinating planning efforts across
municipal and state jurisdictions.
Intern #4 - a student
with coursework in public administration and program management
Focus of internship -
the intern will work with the Utah Housing and Community Development Division
staff to administer the Community Impact Fund (CIB) and support the CIB board
including data compilation, fund analysis, legislative reporting, preparation
of presentations, assistance to applicant communities, and application reviews.
Interns are paid at
$14 per hour and full-time through the summer beginning April 28, 2014 plus UTA
passes. The location is the Utah Housing and Community Development
Division at 1385 South State Street in Salt Lake City. HCDD may be
interested in continuing the internships part-time into the 2014-15 academic
year (working with each intern to accommodate their academic schedule).
Interns should have
proficiency in EXCEL and the ability to learn and utilize other database
programs.
