Internal Audit Intern (Auditor I)

The Bureau of Internal Audit at the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) seeks a qualified candidate(s) to work as an Internal Audit Intern from May 2016 through April 2017.  UDC is responsible for ensuring public safety by managing offenders while maximizing “opportunities for offenders to make lasting changes through accountability, treatment, education, and positive reinforcement within a safe environment.”

Location: 14717 Minuteman Drive, Draper, Utah 84020

Salary: $18.89/hour

Job Type: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday, May through August; 19 hours/week, September through April. Works hours are open to some negotiation based upon class schedule.

Job Duties:
With the aid of a Lead Auditor:
·       Conducts audits (i.e., reviews and analyzes available information, identifies potential issues, prepares audit work papers, etc.).
·       Audits and reviews systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, and standards.
·       Reviews and/or evaluates reports, documents, laws, rules, and regulations. Summarizes and documents audit findings.
·       Reviews fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy, and control of data
·       Identifies problems or potential problem areas and recommends solutions. Participates in meetings to clarify, resolve, and settle audit issues.
·       Reviews and evaluates organizational effectiveness, goal determination, and strategic planning and makes recommendations for improvement. And consults with managers, supervisors, and employees to identify problems, develop improvements, and create and maintain quality standards.

Qualifications: 
Candidates should:

·       Be senior or graduate student in the next academic year pursuing a degree in internal auditing, accounting, public administration, business, criminal justice or other relevant degree.
·       Possess analytical and research skills.
·       Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
·       Be able to effectively resolve concerns and manage conflict. Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas presented verbally.
·       Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.
·       Be able to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions. And be able to conduct a methodical examination.

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Position Characteristics: Full-time (40 hours) fellowship, term limited (1-year position)

Salary: 15-$18/hour depending on education and experience. Fellows are eligible to participate in WTC Utah’s Simple IRA Retirement Savings Plan.

Description: The mission of World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) is to help Utah companies think, act and succeed globally. WTC Utah accomplishes this mission through three key objectives. First is to motivate and educate Utah businesses to expand their global presence through training seminars, regional forums and newsletters focused on international business development, trade issues and export opportunities.  International Trade Services Fellowship responsibilities include:
·  Utilize online trade/business databases to provide market research and analysis on international business opportunities to Utah companies. Databases include the following: Datamyne, USATrade online, UniWorld, BMI, and Hoovers. 
·  Generate comprehensive business reports through the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, index & match, arrays, IF statements, and count formulas
·  Identify and build relationships with potential clients and service providers
·  Update and maintain CRM
·  Draft articles and other written documents
·  Other duties as assigned

-Bachelor or master degree in business, government or related fields Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
-Consistent demonstration of responsibility and initiative

Utility Analyst

Location: Salt Lake County, Ut

Salary: $23.48 - $38.27 Hourly

Description: Employees in this position act as an in-house expert or consultant on issues pertaining to the regulation of public utility service, and advises management on trends and issues relating to public utilities including, public utility regulation practice and theory, public policy, and the terms, conditions, and pricing of utility services.  These employees are expected to work both with others and independently on assigned and independent projects.  A typical project may require a combination of analysis and research including the application of cost or financial accounting theory and practices; auditing standards and practices; economic theory and modeling; engineering standards and cost modeling; and regulatory practices and theory.
